SLEEP!

I forgot what it was like to actually be allowed to sleep through the night !

Until last week, Ava would routinely wake up three times a week and try to get into our bed, which means we would carry her back to bed and tuck her back in.  We finally told her that she needs to stay in her bed all night (we do bribe her with hot chocolate;  she gets a cup in the morning with breakfast if she stayed in bed) and we don't carry her back or tuck her in anymore- she has to go back on her own or she can sleep on our floor without a blanket.  Needless to say, she opts to go get back in her own bed.

Cameron on the other hand has been waking up at least three or four times a night!  So he would start crying and we would get up and hold him for a minute, tuck him back in and sleep for the next hour until we had to do it all over again.  Eventually, after getting up about three or four times and doing that little dance, we would just put him in our bed to sleep with us.

Saturday night at about 2am Billy and I decided we had had it and that a 1 1/2 year old is quite capable of sleeping through the night!  So we ignored him... and it was ROUGH.  He was awake crying from 1-4am (we WOULD go in every 45 minutes and give him a hug and let him know that we love him and tell him that he is a big boy and needs to sleep in his own bed all night) but it was HARD.  At about 3a.m. Billy told me to just go get him, but I was determined to not waste the last 2 hours of torture, so I let cam continue to cry).  After that he would whine about every hour but after a few minutes he would go back to sleep.

I was DREADING the next night, but I only went in once!  The next night (Mon) was the first time he had every slept through the night and I LOVED it.  And again last night he slept without waking up!  Every morning I praise him for staying in his bed and tell him what a big boy he is and the whole day is so much nicer after a good nights rest (or it would be if I got it!)  It does kind of suck that my kids are finally sleeping though the night and I am 9 months pregnant and not able to sleep anyway,  but it will be easier to get up with only one baby instead of two.

I didn't realize how much I missed uninterrupted sleep until this week.  Alas...

Yay! I know, the cry it out thing is not something I agree with or like to do, but sometimes they just need it. Good for you! Good luck on the last bit of the pregnancy. Hope it goes well!

I have let both Amelia and Miles cry it out. It did the trick for both of them. Still, sometimes Mills will get up and want to come to our bed. And Miles has been waking up too, though its mostly only when he's sick, or when Amelia wakes him up cause there in the same room.
I guess its just part of being a mom. :)
Try to get as much sleep as you can before little boy comes!
