What kind of snob are you?

   A few months ago my sister Stephanie and I were sitting in her living room discussing snobs, specifically what kind of snobs we are.  She is a dog snob "purebreed only" and a chocolate snob (only the BEST dark chocolate available for her).  Billy is a punctuality snob (always has to be early for everything).  I am a cook snob (when I cook I have to analyze everything I put out on the table).  

  Since being in California I have realized something else, I am a bed snob!  I have had the WORST sleep since being here and really really just miss my bed you just sink into.  Why anyone would choose to sleep on anything less than perfection is beyond me!  It impacts the way you feel during the day so dramatically.  So mom, BUY ROYCE A NEW MATTRESS!  Even if you spend a few hundred dollars, the cost per use is so low!

   So now I wonder, what kind of snob are you?

Family time at the BYU Baseball Game

So last saturday we got to enjoy the day as a family at Miller Park (the BYU baseball stadium).  The kids LOVED it and other than daddy having to run to the bathroom to puke after the first inning, it was a BLAST!  Notice Cameron clapping?  He totally loved all the cheering.  Avas "most favorite part in the whole world" was Cosmo (the cougar mascot), but I missed the chance to get a picture of them together.  Next time I guess.

We went to an alumni tailgate before hand and ate j-dawgs, got the kids faces painted, and even won $10 to the bookstore, two t-shirts, and a BYU towel!

It was honestly the most perfect Saturday ever!

My Cam Man

Cameron can be a complete mystery to me sometimes.  He is can be the sweetest or the meanest thing ever.  He really has a good heart though.  He will refuse to eat dinner, but then he turn around and eats bugs (yes, I said bugs), desitin, and when he threw up today I found a BAND-AID in it!  My goodness... I dont know what to do about this one!

Ladies night!

When: Thurs, May 20th!

What:  Crafts (2 options), planning, but mostly FUN!

PLEASE, come even if you don't want to make anything, this is a great chance to leave the kids at home and just chillax with friends!

As for crafts:
You can either bring some pictures and coordinating sized canvases to make wall art (see: http://shumakerfam.blogspot.com/2010/04/wall.html )

 or 

You can bring 2 sheets of craft paper, coordinating ribbon, and $4 to make a perpetual tin calendar (see: http://www.kmckaydesigns.com/projects/5-diy-perpetual-tin-calendar.html )

I will have brushes, paints, and mod-podge for both of the projects, but you are welcome to bring any supplies that might aid in the process of creation (including snacks)!

We will also be discussing how we want to do these craft nights in the future (time, projects, places, etc).

Please let me know if you do want to make the calendar because I have to purchase and cut the tin and print the paper.  Also, let me know if you want the bird one, or the one with the quote.  I will be printing this on cream paper with black ink.  If you want it different, bring it with you!

Even if you dont want to craft, come anyway.  We will have lots of fun!  Let me know if you have any questions.

Me: Hey ava, can you draw an eight?
Ava: Yeah (then she draws an 8 on her doodle pro)
Me: Good job!  Now can you draw a five?
Ava: uhh, no... I not know how!
(silence)
Ava: Wait! I know!
(then she puts her hand on the doodle-pro and traces her hand)
Ava: Ta-da! five!

Ava is also writing her name and can even write MOM!

LOOOOOOONG DAY

It's been one of those days, You know, 12 hours of not leavening the house and talking to no one except a three and two year old (I guess I talk to the baby too, he just doesn’t talk back; and sometimes thats a nice thing). Billy leaves before we are up, and will get home tonight when the kids are in bed... I guess I'm lonely. But the kids are having fun. Wanna know what they did today?


They started with smearing their breakfast all over the nearly cleaned couch and love seat

Then the soaked the portable DVD player and my cell with hand sanitizer; now my phone is completely broken.  Who knows when I will have the funds to get a new one.  If we didnt have this stupid contract with AT&T I would just give up my cell!

I have play dough in my carpet that I need to try to get out now

Cameron managed to empty two boxes of dryer sheets on the stairs (in case your wondering that is almost 500 dryer sheets pulled out one at a time).

We baked some bread and I turned my head for one minute; next thing I know, all of the salt is on the floor...

Then my children wanted a snack and got out a tub of whipped topping and covered themselves from head to toe while finger painting the newly cleaned kitchen floor. ( I tried to find the camera to take a picture, no luck)

You'd think I'd be use to it, since this isn't an unusual day, but it is still as hard as last week. I guess it doesn’t help that its coming close to that time of the month... oh, motherhood. It really hope it gets easier, and if not, I guess I'll come out a more patient person in the end.

Age

Well today during ward choir practice Billy was reminded that he "robbed the craddle" but the idea that he is a bit older than me really hit home during this conversation:

I was looking in myself in the bathroom mirror, and I realized I have the start of wrinkles around my eyes!  So I exclaimed...

Me: Man, I'm getting old.
Ava: But I don't want you to get old.
Me: me neither!
Ava:  But daddy is already old!

She said it quite matter-of-factly.  I'm not sure what she sees when she looks at her daddy, but it sure was funny to hear her comment on it!

On a side note: Bennett cut his first tooth this week and is now frequently pulling himself up to a stand on the couch!
