I need to vent....

I know I am so blessed. I have a solid marriage with a near perfect husband, great kids, a beautiful home, 2 kind of working cars, a secure job, the gospel, and we are all healthy and safe, so why is it so hard to appreciate those things?

This has been really hard week as i am EXHAUSTED (pregnancy and low iron) and bracing for Billy to go back to school starting next week. Then to make it even better I back into my neighbors car ($850) our vacuum brakes ($200 replacement) and our dryer stops working(estimated at $500 replacement cost). I don't understand!

Getting into a home this year was difficult. We don't have much savings anymore. I remember thinking that we can only afford a house if no serious disasters occur (Billy's salary should increase significantly this time next year, so it was just a matter of making it through the first year). To make it by in the meantime, I'm doing odd jobs, making my own laundry soap, and making my family eat lentil soup twice a week to keep living costs down. Then this...

Well, I guess ill try to keep a sense of humor about it all, but we seriously need a brake (or should I say we need things to stop braking) or Ill need to go out and get a "real" job to make a few extra hundred dollars every month and that's not what I signed up for!

Don't we love life?

You are blessed but that is rough. Shayla, I am SO sorry!
I called and spoke with Billy while you were in the shower. There is a vacuum repair center in orem on the NE side of 1200 N and State st. We took our vacuum there (801) 655-1102. Also there is a drying rack in my garage you can have. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you. We are out of town now, but when I get home, I'll try to do whatever you may need.
I love you!

I'm laughing as I read this and NOT because it is funny but because it is soooo reallll life and I understand completely!! First the lentil soup. Ha.
Then, your list of THINGS. Here is mine:
Pregnant. Check
Move into new house. Check
Have baby. Check
Run out of money. Check
Car dies. $3000 repair. Check
Leaking Washing Machine. Check
Weed eater throws a rock into the back window of Explorer. Shatters. $200. Check
Leaking sink. Check
Bank fee. $700. Check
The list goes on, but the latest and greatest...the one that almost made me cry:
We get home from vacation. Wind storm has blown siding entirely off side of house. Check

Yay! I love knowing that I am not the only one going through this. I am SO FRUSTRATED!!! You've described almost perfectly our situation. I have actually applied for a "real" job (at night) and have an interview next week. But like you said, I did not sign up for this! We are trying so hard to do the right things, why is everything SO HARD?!
Best of luck to you, I do know that the blessings come after the trials, hopefully they come soon!! We miss you guys!

I read this and just sighed... I'm not the only one in the world that has that kind of luck .(meanwhile saying please dont let me be pregnant)
When I'm not stressing (which is rare) I just try not remember that these times will make the great times so much greater and we will look back on this in 5-10 years (whenever I get my phd ) and laugh
All I can do is pray and know that Heavenly father has this amazing plan even though we cant grasp that concept yet .

I feel you sista. We just have to learn to enjoy the journey and sometimes adjust to plan B in our lives.
